FAQ
Fair questions, straight answers.
- Is Freefall free?
Yes. Completely.
Every feature, for every person, forever. Freefall is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit supported by voluntary donations. There are no ads, no subscriptions, and nothing in the app you can buy.
- Who chooses my matches?
A real expert matchmaker. Not an algorithm.
Every match on Freefall is made by a real person who has read your profile, your preferences, and the feedback you've given on previous matches.
- Do I have to go on the date?
No. But you do have to give feedback.
The date is optional. Telling us what you thought isn't. Your feedback is how your matchmaker learns what you actually want, and it's private to Freefall — the other person never sees it.
- What happens if I don't reply to my match?
You stop receiving matches.
Freefall only works if everyone on it is actually trying. People who don't reply stop getting introductions, so everyone you meet is genuinely here to meet someone.
- How many matches do I get?
One at a time.
You get a single introduction and the room to give it a real chance. When a match ends and you've given your feedback, your matchmaker finds your next one.
- Can I browse profiles?
No.
There's no discovery feed, no search, and no swiping. You only ever see the profile of your current match.
- Why is Freefall a nonprofit?
Because incentives shape products.
A for-profit dating app makes money when you stay single and scrolling. Freefall is a 501(c)(3), so the only thing we're optimizing for is the match working.
- What if I marry my match?
Congratulations.
If you end up marrying someone you met on Freefall, we kindly suggest you make a donation to keep it free for the next person. That's entirely up to you.
- Are there subscriptions or premium features?
No.
No subscriptions, boosts, ads, coins, or premium tiers. Donating never affects anyone's matches. Nothing in Freefall can be bought.
- Can I pause?
Yes.
You can pause matching any time from the app and resume whenever you're ready. Nothing happens while you're paused.
- Can I end a match?
Yes.
You can end a match at any moment. Just tell us why. Your feedback goes to Freefall privately — never to the other person.
- What happens to people who behave badly?
They're removed.
Every report is reviewed by a real person. Accounts that are rude, dishonest, or unsafe are warned, suspended, or removed from Freefall.
- Does Freefall show my exact location?
No.
Freefall uses your approximate area to find someone near you. Your match only ever sees a general location, like a city.
- Is Instagram required?
No.
Freefall doesn't require any social accounts. Your profile lives in Freefall, and that's the only place it appears.
Keep Freefall free. Donations help us operate Freefall without subscriptions, ads, boosts, or paywalls.
